2. Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to the DogGPT iOS application and the DogGPT website. DogGPT is initially offered in Germany and the United States.
3. Information stored in the app
Depending on the features you use, DogGPT may store the dog owner’s name and the following dog-related information:
- dog name, breed, age, weight, sex, and profile photo;
- allergies, illnesses, medications, and other special characteristics;
- favorite food, favorite toy, reminders, and veterinary appointments;
- analysis history, generated results, and chat history;
- photos selected by you for analysis.
These records are designed to remain on your device. If iCloud/CloudKit synchronization is enabled, Apple may synchronize app data through the iCloud account connected to your device.
4. AI processing through OpenAI
When you use DogGPT’s AI chat or analysis functions, the content needed to answer your request is transmitted to OpenAI’s API. This may include:
- your text question;
- a photo selected for analysis;
- relevant dog profile details and prior context needed to personalize the answer.
The purpose is to generate the requested analysis or response. DogGPT does not use your content to train its own model. OpenAI processes API data under its own applicable terms and privacy documentation. Do not upload information you do not want processed by an AI service.
5. Photos and speech
Photos are selected by you and stored locally as part of your dog’s profile or analysis history. A selected photo is transmitted to the AI provider only when required for the requested analysis.
Voice input is used to convert speech into text. DogGPT does not intentionally retain the raw voice recording. The resulting text may be sent to OpenAI when you submit it as a chat message. Device or operating-system speech services may process voice input according to Apple’s settings and policies.
6. Apple services
DogGPT may use Apple services including StoreKit, iCloud/CloudKit, push notifications, and system speech recognition. Apple may process identifiers, purchase status, device information, and synchronized content under Apple’s privacy terms. We do not receive your Apple ID password or payment card details.
CloudKit may also be used to validate invite codes, grant promotional access, and reduce abuse. This can involve technical identifiers or redemption records needed to determine whether a code has already been used.
7. Subscriptions and purchases
Payments are processed solely by Apple through the App Store. We may receive subscription status or transaction identifiers needed to unlock paid features, restore purchases, and provide support. We do not receive your full payment details.
8. Push notifications
If you allow notifications, DogGPT may send medication reminders, veterinary appointment reminders, and other app-related alerts. You can disable notifications at any time in iOS Settings.
9. Website hosting and server logs
This static website is hosted using Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare may process IP addresses, request metadata, security events, and technical logs necessary to deliver and protect the site. The website does not intentionally use advertising cookies, analytics cookies, or behavioral tracking.
10. Legal bases for users in the EEA
- Contract performance: providing requested app functions, subscription access, and support.
- Legitimate interests: security, fraud prevention, troubleshooting, and service reliability.
- Consent: permissions such as photos, microphone, speech recognition, notifications, and optional iCloud features where consent is required.
- Legal obligation: compliance with tax, accounting, consumer-protection, and legal requirements.
11. International transfers
Some service providers, including OpenAI, Apple, and Cloudflare, may process information outside Germany or the European Economic Area. Where legally required, transfers are based on recognized safeguards such as adequacy decisions, standard contractual clauses, or another lawful transfer mechanism.
12. Retention
Locally stored app data remains until you delete it, reset the app, or uninstall the app. iCloud-synced information may remain in your iCloud account until removed there. AI providers, Apple, and Cloudflare may retain technical or request data according to their own policies and legal obligations. Invite-code redemption records may be retained as long as needed to prevent repeated use or abuse.
13. Your choices and rights
You can edit or delete app data inside DogGPT, remove the app, disable iCloud synchronization, revoke permissions in iOS Settings, and cancel subscriptions through your Apple account.
Where the GDPR applies, you may have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, portability, and complaint to a data protection authority. Contact Neo.schulz@icloud.com to exercise a right.
14. Children
DogGPT is not directed to children. Users must be at least 13 years old and must have parental or guardian permission where required by local law. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child in violation of applicable law.
15. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures, including Apple platform protections and limited data collection. No system is completely secure, and AI requests necessarily leave the device for processing.
16. Changes
We may update this policy when features, providers, or legal requirements change. The updated date will appear at the top of this page.
